Not totally surprised by this. I knew someone personally and have heard of many more who left the church over its encouragement to get vaccinated for Covid. I think there's also a rise of people who think the church is starting to become too feminist and liberal (ha), and they start to identify more with MAGA than the church. Then there's just a lot more people who have read the CES letter or encountered similar history, so there are ex-mormons who stop believing the church is true, but seem to stop deconstructing there. There are probably right-wing women who leave over the church's CSA issues as well.
